I can feel my autism steam engine coming to a slow and I am able to reflect back on the almost five year rollercoaster of diagnosis-after-diagnosis. I have a girl and boy on the spectrum and each and every day they teach me something new about autism. I hope that through my blog and with the stories that I share I can help parents of newly diagnosed children and help spread some of my own insight about autism. The way that I first discovered that my child was on the autism spectrum was by recording a video of her playing–I remember the twenty-six year old me watching the videos other parents posted online and looking at my own and realizing they were very similar. It was thanks to other parents that I began to advocate for my child. I have an MFA in Creative Writing, a Bachelor in Psychology and I work in special education in the school system.
